Law for Black Lives (L4BL) is a Black femme-led national network of over 6,000 radical lawyers and legal workers committed to building a responsive legal infrastructure for movement organizations and cultivating a community of legal advocates trained in movement lawyering. We are deeply committed to supporting the leadership of directly impacted communities and transforming the legal field to represent the values of movement lawyering, which are centered in building community power and democratizing the law. 

In July 2022, L4BL will host a conference in St. Louis, MO. We are seeking an event planner based in St. Louis who has experience coordinating large events, preferably with some experience coordinating events during the COVID-19 pandemic, and who works from a social/racial justice perspective. The event planner will work under the direction of L4BL’s Conference Coordinator.

Event Description

The 2022 Conference will be a three day conference of up to 500 attendees, with the aim of expanding L4BL membership, making a clear assessment of current movement needs, meeting the needs of movement groups, and training and politicizing a cadre of lawyers and legal workers.  

Scope of Services

To assist with this engagement, we are seeking services for the following:

  • Manage logistics, including but not limited to:

    • Production, including decor and A/V

    • Printing

    • SWAG

    • Catering

  • Serve as a liaison with conference venue and certain vendors

  • Work with conference hotel to ensure accommodations of all attendees

  • Book travel and accommodations of speakers

  • Day of event coordination

The ideal consultant will be a highly organized, creative problem solver with excellent time management and communication skills. This person should have an orientation towards social and racial justice, and experience working with organizations in this field.
